What does a treatment involve?

A treatment will take approximately 45 minutes and can normally be done through light clothing. The therapist uses fingers and thumbs on precise points around the body making gentle rolling moves. Two to four treatments at weekly intervals are often enough to be effective on most conditions. In certain cases further treatments may be necessary and regular top up treatments can be of benefit to maintain a state of wellbeing. The treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing and can be used on people of all ages.

How does it work?
The Bowen moves promote subtle reactions within the muscles, nervous system and soft tissue. This in turn has an effect on the body’s natural energy and healing ability. During the treatment there are a series of short breaks where the client is left resting to allow the body to absorb and respond to the gentle moves. This rest period gives the body time to make the fine and subtle adjustments which help to relieve tension, reduce pain and initiate the healing process.
The Bowen Technique helps to relax the muscles and soft tissue encouraging the body to realign itself. There is no manipulation or force used.
